Abstract
Abstract: This paper examines the relationship between ecological crisis and human spirituality in the poetry book Korpus Ovarium (2022) by Royyan Julian. This study utilizes a qualitative method with Michael Riffatere's semiotics of poetry approach, focusing on symbols that discourse the relationship between nature, ecological crisis, and human spirituality. The results of this study show: (1) nature has a close relationship with the spirituality of society, especially indigenous peoples such as in Mollo, South Central East, East Nusa Tenggara because nature is seen as an epiphany of the Holy, (2) the phenomenon of ecological crisis caused by a destructive development paradigm, not only threatens economic stability, but also the identity and spirituality of the people in Mollo, South Central East, East Nusa Tenggara. From the results of these readings, it can be concluded that for the Mollo community, nature is believed not only as a source of livelihood, but also believed to be a sacred entity so that it also involves cultural symbols. Therefore, when natural degradation becomes an inevitable threat, the phenomenon not only impacts on the spiritual dimension of the community, but also on their communal identity.
